The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center had the GacoFlex S20 Roof Coating System applied over its entire 39,100 square foot built-up and modified bitumen roof.

Sellers and Marquis, a Kansas City-based roofing contractor, applied the GacoFlex S20 Roof Coating System over the entire 39,100 square foot roof of The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center.

Hotels are among the strongest candidates for restoration over replacement. A tear-off means noise, debris and staging over occupied guest rooms for weeks. A coating goes on above the guests, without the building coming out of service.

3 steps to evaluate a roof coating

    Get a professional evaluation

    Have the roof's current condition properly assessed — surface, seams, penetrations, drainage and the insulation below. Some manufacturers, Gaco included, will send a technical team for a free roof evaluation report. A coating over wet insulation traps the problem instead of solving it.

    Confirm the products are UL or FM approved

    Ask for the product data sheet, not a brochure. GacoFlex S4200 carries industry-leading fire performance in approvals, and those approvals are what an insurer and a plans examiner will want to see.

    Use a manufacturer-licensed contractor

    Coating warranties are only valid when the system is installed by a trained applicator licensed through the manufacturer's network, to the specified thickness. Verify the license before you sign anything.
